Welcome to WikiArt.org, the online platform dedicated to showcasing visual arts from around the world.
Aim of the project
Our primary objective is to make the world's art accessible to a global audience. WikiArt currently boasts an impressive collection of 250,000 artworks by 3,000 artists, available in seven languages. Many of these artworks are not easily accessible to the public, as they are housed within museums, universities, town halls, and other civic buildings across more than 100 countries. With your active involvement, we aspire to cover the entirety of Earth's art history, spanning from ancient cave artworks to contemporary private collections. Additionally, we offer translation tools to cater to diverse languages.
Financial status
WikiArt is a non-profit project that relies on donations and advertising in order to cover hosting and technical service expenses. The content on our site is generously provided by our dedicated Volunteer Team, of which you are cordially invited to become a part. For more information on how to contribute or make a donation, please visit the 'Donate' and 'how to contribute' sections on our website.
Copyright policy
At WikiArt, we showcase both public domain and copyright protected artworks. Copyright protected works are displayed in accordance with the fair use principle:
- as historically significant artworks
- as used for informational and educational purposes
- as readily available on the internet
- as low resolution copies unsuitable for commercial use
We are diligent in responding to notices of alleged copyright infringement by promptly removing or blocking copyright protected artworks for users in countries where infringement has been reported. However, our primary effort is obtaining permission from artists to showcase their work and always provide proper credit.
We also offer assistance to copyright holders to effectively manage their intellectual property online. If you believe someone is infringing upon your copyrights and wish to notify us, please submit the notice to wikipaintings@gmail.com.
